Connie earned both her Bachelor’s (secondary math) and Master’s degrees (Math curriculum) at Augustana. She has been teaching since 1976. Her first year was in Omaha, NE and the rest of the time in Sioux Falls. She taught 7th grade math at Patrick Henry and at Memorial Middle Schools. For a few years she taught other grade levels but always 7th grade. When she “retired” she was asked to teach one class of Algebra at Lutheran High and has now been on staff for 5 years and has taught Algebra 1 and 2, geometry, and even pre-calculus. Connie enjoys the small setting and the kids as well as the faith-based education.
Most enjoyable aspects of your teaching ministry: I enjoy being able to share my faith openly without fear of reprisal.
What are your hobbies? During my free time, I like to quilting, do a bit of gardening, and of course play with my grandkids.
What is your favorite flavor of ice-cream? I don’t eat much ice cream, but I like the chocolate/vanilla swirl at B&G.
Where else can we find you in the community? I spend time at Resurrection Lutheran Church leading a women’s Bible study, chairing the Discipleship committee, and serving on council. I also run the slide show for services.
What is your favorite bible verse? Isaiah 40:31 "They who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint."
