I attended South Dakota State University in Brookings and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Music Education. I did three years of graduate work toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Clarinet Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Iowa.
Most enjoyable aspects of your teaching ministry: Students are the best part of teaching! I love the uniqueness of each individual and learning how to best impact each student.
Best part of teaching/working at Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls? The people that surround this organization--the school and church community, students, and families--are the best part of teaching at Lutheran High!
What are some of your hobbies? I love spending time with my family and friends. I am very close with my siblings and their spouses and children, so I spend most of my free time with my 9 nieces and nephews. I have two cats that I love dearly: Friedrich and Adelynn.
Where else can we see you in the community? In addition to my duties at Lutheran High, I am the Clarinet Instructor at University of Sioux Falls. I also teach several private lessons outside of school to middle and high school students from the community, including 10 students from SFLS. I perform on clarinet regularly in Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities with the Sioux Falls Municipal Band, Sioux Empire Community Theater Orchestra, other small local ensembles, and as a soloist and recitalist.
What is your favorite Bible verse? Phil. 4:13, "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
